Get Rid of Mice, first get rid of you!

10 June 2010

So you have some unwanted guests in the house, eh? I do not want your family or business – this article does not help with this problem … I'm talking about those furry little mice that someone really kind of cute when they are using TV Cartoon – Tom and Jerry? You're not reading this to hear me ramble on more than cartoons – if you want to know how to get rid of mice quickly.

If you ask "Why me?" You are not alone … Thousands of properties per year receiveInvasion of these small rodents, but do not despair. No, because you have a dirty house, are just looking for a place to live for a while '. Mice tend, at home during the autumn months, as temperatures get cooler migrate. She has a natural tendency to approach a food source … Yes, the bag of dog food in the garage, or that box of cereal in the pantry, or peanut butter sandwich is dropped behind the couch.

OK – as they have here in the firstPlace? Rats are incredibly agile creatures. The common house mouse can squeeze through a hole the size of your little finger. Take a look at your fingers and think about it – throughout the expansive home you have any holes, the great and the outside world? Perhaps a pipe or cable is not properly sealed. Perhaps the window on the ground floor that disclosure is to crack. Seal holes with … NOW! It could eliminate the problem of the mouse, but there you can use a little good, becauseThey're like "Ah-Nold – are back!

So what to do … People are always better to build traps for mice, but what is the best?

Many people tend to go with the old fashioned bar spring trap … You know, you always see on TV. They work sometimes, but you may be facing a smart mouse and the lack of bait and the trap will not be caught.

You can even allowing for the possible toxicity, but I would recommend this.If the mouse eats the lethal dose, who knows where it ends. As it happens, probably bite the dust in one of your walls and stink your house for weeks or months.

The best thing would be if by some as inhumane, is the glue trap. It 's basically a piece of cardboard or plastic with a very sticky surface. They put bait in it, and when the mouse passes over it would get stuck there. These work well enough, but sometimes the mice died during a long deathbecause of the exposure. Try checking these traps every day, or you may find a dead rat that died a long painful death. If you are lucky (depending on how you see it), you can also see that he lives.

There are also several live-traps to capture as human, but only if you check the traps regularly. If a mouse living in a country, start the case, it may still die of exposure or extreme stress. These traps can at your local hardware store or WalMart to find. There are severalTrap designs are as cage traps and box traps and door. You will see what is available.

One last thing … If the path of a live-catch trap, make sure you release the mouse miles away from home. Rats have an excellent sense of smell, which will act as a biological homing device ….. them will be back on the doorstep or in your kitchen (country seal the holes, is not it?).

Printing Methods For DVD and CD

1 June 2010

When it comes to placing data onto a CD or DVD, we often will look for ways in which to clearly label it so the information which it contains is easily identifiable. When these discs are used for private, home use we will often be content with simply writing on the disc itself or making a rough label of some kind. However, when it comes to requiring these discs for our business-especially when we are looking to create multiple CD/DVD duplications, the ways in which these discs are labelled is crucial.

Printing onto discs ourselves is something which can take an excessive amount of time and money and if not done correctly, can result in a badly manufactured product. It is for this reason that many businesses turn to the service of a disc printing company who can help make their CD/DVD printing look professional and effective. In order to print on duplicate discs, the company in question will have designers who use different design software in order to create the layout of the disc. If you have your own design ideas for your disc, they will be able to notify you of what will work best with the size and shape of the disc in order to create the best design for your needs. This part of the design process may also include the packaging for the CD or DVD. There are different methods of printing, but in order to choose the one which will provide you with the best results for your needs, you will need to understand how these different processes work. This will be due to the finish which each type will provide you with which will limit and benefit you in different ways.

Screen printing has been evolved for use in a wide range of applications such as t-shirts and other textiles which is often referred to as silkscreen; however, it is also a technique which is used for printing onto compact discs. The process involves applying a thick layer of ink onto a stencil, scraping the excess ink off and forcing the remaining ink through the holes of the stencil in order to create the image on the surface of the disc. However, although this is a rather simple method of printing, there are some disadvantages which stem from this which can affect the result of your overall design. Due to the thick applications of the ink, fine lines and details can disappear-especially in the case where you have very small lettering. In the instance where you are wishing to place your design on a white background, you will need to take this into account with your design as the colour of a disc is metallic, and not white. Ink will also appear as a different colour on the clear inner hub, the mirror hub and the main surface of the disc-even though the same colour is applied. It is for this reason that the best method of disc printing for your business is likely to be digital printing.

Most printing companies now look to digital printing for their customers due to the vast amount of advantages which come from this method compared to screen printing. Firstly there is the overall finish of the discs. As there is no need for the messy application of inks, etc, the quality of any images you have printed-including photographs will be as realistic as the original image which is emphasised by the high-gloss finish ensuring you have a consistently high quality finish every time. Digital printing also saves more money for both the company and the customer. Due to its quick nature, there is less chance of poor quality prints which can result in wasted discs when the finish is not what we intended. Thanks to the nature of the printing procedure, there is also less need for ink and thus, less ink is wasted on the whole. Finally, with no need for time consuming setting up of the equipment, no plates, solvents and excessive need for cleaning afterward; the digital process is also more time effective. This means that not only will the duplicate discs be printed in a shorter space of time, but they will also be sent back to the customer in a timely manner.

Although each printing method can offer different effects and advantages, in terms of getting the most for your money and a professional finish, digital printing is best for your needs. When you take into account the need for speed when printing duplicate discs, digital can not only ensure you get the finish you ant, but also the speed which is required in today’s fast paced business world.

Humane Slaughter Equipment For Animals – Bolt Stunners

31 May 2010

Slaughter equipment for animals has evolved over the past 100 years yet is still a controversial issue amongst some vegetarians and animal activists. In modern society there are many methods in which to slaughter an animal, ranging from chemical (carbon dioxide) to mechanical (bolt stunners) and electrical means, all of which have their own benefits. Animal slaughter for meat is still applied ritually in certain Eastern religions such as Judaism and the Hindu faith; and although some countries such as Sweden, Iceland and Norway have banned certain forms of ritual slaughter, in May 2009 the European Parliament voted in favor of allowing ritual slaughter in the member states. The issue of human slaughter and the methods used by societies in order to eat meat is constantly evolving with new forms of humane slaughter equipment being invented all the time.

Prior to the invention of humane slaughter equipment (which became popular throughout the 20th Century in Europe) animals such as cows, sheep and goats were slaughtered by being struck over the head or ‘pole-axed’ in a brutal and imprecise manner, leading to intense suffering on the part of the animal. In 1933, the UK Labour government of James Ramsey McDonald passed the Humane Slaughter Act which required that equipment such as the humane bolt stunner be used on all cattle and calves. Steadily since that Act of Parliament animal pressure groups have fought to improve the methods of humane slaughter for all types of animals people eat for meat; but alongside such causes there are religious groups who require rights to be able to ritually slaughter their meat as the religions they follow practice such methods. The issue in how we slaughter animals for meat will continue to divide nations and people for many years to come.

The most popular method of animal slaughter in Europe and the United States is applied via the use of bolt stunners, which are also known as the captive bolt pistol, cattle gun, stunbolt gun or bolt gun. These forms of humane slaughter were essentially invented and popularised in response to the legal requirements that were happening across Europe and the United States. Other modern methods include using an electrical current through the brain of the animal prior to the actual slaughter; the shock renders the animal unable to feel pain, but it’s an apparently controversial application of humane slaughter in chickens as it leads to bone fractures, stops the flow of the birds bleeding which leads to lesser quality of meat. As you’d expect, the gas stunning method is where (most commonly mustard gas) suffocates the creatures in a relatively painless manner.

The humane slaughter method of using a bolt stunner is called percussive stunning and can be split into three types which are the penetrative, non-penetrative and free-bolt methods. The bolt stunner itself is a rod sometimes shaped like a gun or pistol, it’s made of stainless steel or durable plastics and has a trigger which when pulled releases the bolt or air which stuns the animal. Penetrative bolt stunners when used, actually project the bolt which enters the animals’ skull and damages the brain in a split-second so the least amount of conscious pain is felt by the creature. This is the most popular method in that although it damages the animals’ brain, the heart still beats and continues to circulate blood which is essential for quality of meat.

A controversial issue with this method can be the spread of such diseases as BSE, as the intravenous bolt is used to slaughter a number of animals and thus spreads disease. The non-penetrative method is when the bolt hits the animals head but doesn’t enter the skull, merely the outside and concussing the animal into a painless state. Another type of stunning equipment is the free-bolt stunner which is used in situations where the animal can’t be contained such as in a field, the main difference from the other types of bolt stunner is that the projected bolt isn’t retractable. There is no one all-encompassing method of humane slaughter for all animals, even different types of cows require differing methods of slaughter due to the thickness of skull in various breeds.

Chasing Chipmunks

29 May 2010

Chipmunks are ground dwellers and exist in the entire lower 48 states. Chipmunks thrive in suburban areas as well as parks and empty lots. Chipmunks eat almost everything, so the first thing you should do is remove any possible food sources from your property. Slugs, Snails, Insects, small birds, eggs, mice, seeds, fruit Vegetables, seeds, flower bulbs, pet food.

Chipmunks will eat all these and more if given the opportunity. Outside pet food bowls, bird feeders, nut trees, gardens, flowers or insect colonies can all attract chipmunks. Don’t let the cute chubby cheeks of a chipmunk charm you – chipmunk infestations can explode once they’ve moved into your property, they can be difficult to remove!

Before I cover ways to remove chipmunks from your premises, here are 10 reasons why chipmunks shouldn’t be welcomed guests:

1) Damaged and destroyed garden vegetables and fruits

2) Chipmunks devour seed in your bird feeders.

3) Chewed up cable, air conditioning and electric lines.

4) Burrows which can cause water damage to patios, driveways, crawlspaces and foundations

5) Destroyed flowers, bulbs and other plants

6) Flea problems that transfer from chipmunks to your pets or inside your home

7) Fungus growth in planting beds caused by tunnels filling with water

8) Retaining walls weakened and damaged from tunnels and water damage

9) Burrows near your foundation can attract termites

10) Chipmunks will inevitably attract snakes which will come looking for the chipmunks for food.

For around $20 and a quick trip to your hardware store you can purchase a small live trap. Smear some peanut butter and bird seed onto the bait tray and place the trap under your deck or a bush – anywhere you’ve seen a chipmunk.

If you’d rather make your own trap take a 5-gallon bucker or similar container. Fill the container ¼- ½ full of water. Now, take a board and make a ramp leading to your bucket. Have some wine corks lying around? Place them in the bucket so they are floating on the water, disguising it. Now sprinkle in some bird seeds and wait for the chipmunk. He’ll jump after the seeds and then get stuck in the water. You can then put a lid on the bucket and take your chipmunk for a little ride to a local park or forestry for release.

There are other ways to eliminate a chipmunk problem that I don’t recommend:

o poison peanuts

o rat traps or glue traps

o flooding tunnels with water or gasoline

Live trapping is the preferred, humane method for removing your chipmunk Charlie.
